Simpli.fi’s Geo-Fence technology allows you to gather a user pool for targeting or attribution based on geographic areas visited by GPS-enabled devices. These areas, typically commercial locations, are defined by custom shapes ( Geo-Fences ) which you draw in the Simpli.fi Platform.
There are two types of Geo-Fences :
- Target Fence : The fence drawn to indicate the area Simpli.fi uses to collect and define members of an audience.
- Conversion Zone : The fence drawn to indicate the area Simpli.fi uses to track visits to a certain location, typically the advertiser's business address.
- A Geo-Conversion is an offline conversion (action) that occurs when a user visits a Conversion Zone within the set Attribution Window . Conversions are only tracked after a user receives an ad from a campaign.
Note
A campaign cannot have more than 5,000 Geo-Fences. This includes Conversion Zones and target fences. If your fence list exceeds 5,000, then you must create a second campaign.
sidebar . Use Case Examples
Simpli.fi's Geo-Fence technology can be leveraged in a variety of ways. Examples of possible use cases include:
- Deliver ads to devices within a certain proximity of your business by targeting a radius around your business.
- Draw fences around competitor locations and deliver ads to user devices that visit the locations. Add your business location as a Conversion Zone and track visits back to your store.
- Draw fences around possible competitor locations and higher traffic locations, and deliver ads with messaging about your business's Grand Opening.
sidebar . Known Limitations
The known limitations of Geo-Fence technology includes:
- Geo-Conversions can only be tracked for a maximum of 30-days.
- Depending on the level of traffic around a Geo-Fence , data can be inaccurate up to 50 meters. However, Simpli.fi's data is often much more accurate than that and can be as accurate 18 inches.
- It is not possible to retroactively Geo-Fence a location. This means devices are only collected once the fence is drawn and the campaign is Active .
- Since the GPS signals received by Simpli.fi rely on the GPS accuracy of the device, Conversion Zones and target fences should be at least 100 meters apart to help account for devices’ variances in GPS accuracy.
