Budget Plans allow you to set Spend or Impressions budgets to spend during a custom time frame, rather than Legacy Budgets which only allows you to set a budget based on the campaign's flight date or calendar months. Budget Plans also allow you to create schedules and allocate budgets in advance. Once a plan's flight has ended, you can rollover any unspent budget to the next plan or distribute the unspent budget evenly to the remaining plans for a campaign.
The ability to schedule budgets and automatically adjust unspent budget alleviates the need for the manual budget updates required when using the Legacy Budgets .
sidebar . Use Case Examples
Use Budget Plans to allocate budget amounts in advance based on custom time periods. Examples of possible use cases include:
- Deliver impressions based on a custom 30-day flight instead of a calendar month.
- Schedule monthly budgets with different spend goals in advance.
- Set a higher budget amount to spend on a holiday weekend.
- Quickly rollover any unspent budget without manual calculations.
sidebar . Known Limitations
Some known limitations of Budget Plans include:
- A plan's flight dates cannot overlap with another plan's flight dates when in the same campaign.
- If you update a plan's budget to a value less than what the plan has already spent, the campaign stops spending. The campaign's status does not change if there are still remaining plans.
- You cannot use both an impression-based and monetary-based budget when using Budget Plans . When selecting a Budget Type , you must select Impressions or Spend .
- You cannot switch from Legacy Budgets to Budget Plans after a campaign is activated.
